1. OSHA 30– Online – http://clicksafety.com/courses/detail/osha-30-hour-construction. If you have a copy of your OSHA 30 card, please make sure the hall has a copy. Everyone is required to have their OSHA 30 by June 1, 2020.
2. Bias and Belonging – This class will focus on the science of implicit bias and explore strategies for reducing and interrupting bias. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructors: John McNamara and Gary Glidden.
3. A2L Refrigerant Update – This one-night class will cover the new A2L refrigerants, procedures, and equipment associated with the HFC phase down. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Scott Magnuson.
4. Intro to Welding Technologies – This four-night class offers a great opportunity to explore the fundamentals of welding through hands-on practice. We’ll cover three major welding processes: GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and SMAW (Stick). Whether you’re entirely new to welding or looking to refresh your skills, this class is designed for all experience levels. Wednesday and Thursday nights, Sept. 10, 11, 17, & 18, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: John McNamara.
5. Foremen Training – This two-night class builds essential leadership, communication, and job site management skills for current and aspiring foremen. Learn to lead crews, solve problems, and keep projects running smoothly. Sept. 24 & 25, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Gary Glidden.
6. MIG Welding – This four-night advanced MIG welding course is designed to enhance your skills as a craftsman. We will cover both light and heavy-gauge stainless and carbon steel. We will explore best practices and new technologies. Prior experience in MIG welding is preferred. Wednesday and Thursday nights, Oct. 1, 2, 8, & 9, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructors: John McNamara and Bryan Conery.
7. Field Measuring – This three-night class focuses on the skills and techniques used to measure and order HVAC fittings and ductwork. It will include drawing with a template, ordering from a print, and field measuring principles. Oct. 15, 16, & 22, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Gary Glidden.
8. John Hancock – Review of current investment options, how to use the John Hancock website and mobile app, and the JH online tools for retirement planning. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
9. CamDuct – This class introduces members to CamDuct, a powerful software for ductwork fabrication. Learn the basics of navigation, creating fittings, editing jobs, and preparing files for cutting. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Gary Glidden.
10. Practical Wiring for HVAC – This four-night class covers practical wiring for 24V and 120V circuits commonly found in HVAC components. Oct. 29, 30, Nov. 5 & 12, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Scott Magnuson.
11. Union Stewards Training – This two-night class covers our responsibilities, focusing on our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), trust funds, negotiations, and fosters solidarity among our membership. Must attend both nights to be eligible for $325 boot credit. Thursday nights, Nov. 6 & 13, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructors: Joe Cook and Todd Whitlock.
12. Trimble Robotic Total Station/X7 Scanner – This two-night class will cover Field Link software, setup, and hands-on experience with Trimble’s 773 Total Station and X7 Scanner. November 19 & 20, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Instructor: Gary Glidden.
13. TIG Welding – This four-night advanced TIG welding course is designed to enhance your skills as a craftsman. This class will focus on Stainless and Aluminum materials in various gauges. We will explore best practices and new technologies. Prior experience in TIG welding is preferred. Wednesday and Thursday nights, Dec. 3, 4, 10, & 11, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructors: John McNamara and Bryan Conery.
14. Laser Welding – This two-night class will focus on safety as we explore the capabilities of laser welding along with hands-on experience. We will cover a variety of materials and techniques using IPG’s Lightweld XC. Some welding experience is helpful, but not required. Dec. 17 & 18, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Zach Zenzen.
15. Plastic Welding and Fabrication – This two-night class is an introduction to plastic welding and fabrication. We will explore a variety of materials and duct construction methods. This class will concentrate on thermoplastics, materials that can be altered and attached through heat and pressure. Jan. 7 & 8, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: John McNamara.
16. Combustion Heating – This two-night class covers the principles of combustion heating systems, including components, operation, and safety. Learn to troubleshoot, test, and maintain furnaces used in residential and light commercial settings. Wiring experience or completion of the Practical Wiring class is encouraged. Jan. 14 & 15, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Scott Magnuson.
17. Retirement in Your Future – This class is designed for individuals who are planning to retire or have questions about retirement. The class is open to members and spouses. Tuesday, Jan. 13th, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8 pm. Instructor: Debbie LaFew.
18. Fire, Smoke, and Damper Technician – This four-night class covers the necessary curriculum to prepare members for the Fire, Smoke, and Damper Technician exam through ICB. Classroom time Jan. 21, 22, & 28. Testing on Jan. 29, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Instructor: Gary Glidden.
19. 20. Brazing and Soft Soldering – This three-night, hands-on class covers the fundamentals of brazing and soft soldering for HVAC applications. Learn proper techniques, safety practices, and material preparation to create strong, leak-free joints. February 4, 5, and 11, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Instructor: Scott Magnuson.
21. Revit – This four-night introductory class covers the basics of Revit software for HVAC and sheet metal applications. Learn how to navigate the interface, create and modify basic models, and produce coordinated drawings. Wednesday and Thursday nights, Feb. 18, 19, 25, & 26, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8 pm. Instructor: Gary Glidden.
22. MCM Panel Installation – This three-night hands-on class focuses on the installation of Metal Composite Material (MCM) architectural panels. Learn proper layout, fastening methods, flashing details, and best practices to ensure quality, weather-tight installations on commercial building exteriors. March 11, 12, & 18, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: John McNamara.
23. Boilers – This three-night class will cover boiler applications, design, controls, and hands-on troubleshooting. March 25, 26, & April 1, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Scott Magnuson.
24. Grinding and Polishing – Grinding and polishing can be the last and most important step in your project. This class will cover a variety of abrasives and techniques for the sheet metal industry. We will concentrate on aluminum and stainless steel finishing. April 8 & 9, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: John McNamara.
25. CFC Prep & Testing – EPA 608 Universal Certification. Classroom prep time on April 22 and 23, and testing on April 29, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Scott Magnuson.
26. Pattern Development – This three-night class is designed to introduce you to the principles of sheet metal layout. If you need a refresher or have never made fittings before, this class is for you. We will discuss various pattern development techniques and make several commonly used fittings. April 30, May 6, & 7, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: John McNamara.
27. Welding Certifications – We will conduct an AWS weld certification test in any process. Members need to be proficient in the process and prepared to take the test at that time. Members are encouraged to take the GMAW or GTAW class to prepare for the Certification Examination. May 13 & 14, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructors: John McNamara and Zach Zenzen.
28. Lift Training & Certification – This two-night class will include classroom instruction followed by hands-on skill demonstrations. Members receive certifications for forklifts, telehandlers, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts. May 6 & 7, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Gary Glidden.
29. Lift Training & RECERTIFICATION – This one-night class serves as a refresher and hands-on recertification class on forklift, telehandler, aerial, and scissor lifts. May 21, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Instructor: Gary Glidden.
